Collaborations
COBALTO STUDIO
Gabriel Escámez is the founder and creative director of Cobalto Studio, an art direction and interior design studio based in Barcelona, Spain. Cobalto Studio is organized in three teams: the first covers art direction and set design projects, the second architecture and interior design projects and the third one develops the project of La Cobalta, an editor of objects and books.
Cobalto Studio —an art direction and interior design studio based in Barcelona, Spain—, signs Souliers Martinez’ campaigns for Winter 20 and for Summer 21. Both campaigns give center stage to a number of diverse, complementary women, ground breaking, modern artists and artisans from Spain, who embody the spirits and values of Souliers Martinez.
The relationship between Studio Cobalto and Souliers Martinez goes beyond the professional aspect: it is truly a creative and artistic love story.
The input and support of Cobalto has been essential in establishing the codes of Souliers Martinez, and interpreting and building its universe. The original Martinez/Cobalto collaboration took place in 2018, for the brand’s first ever communication campaign, during which they bonded over the many similarities of their respective DNAs.
Both structures share a variety of values and cultural references, including a comprehensive vision of Spain, its ancestral culture and its folklore character: all features that Cobalto effortlessly manages to translate, with a very modern twist by creating the perfect images for its campaigns.
CLARA DIEZ
Souliers Martinez pays a tribute to Spanish women, through a number of collaborations. Inspiring and creative figures, they come from various cities and backgrounds. They are active in different creative domains, spanning from art to craftsmanship. They have, however, much in common: they share this unmistakable, fascinating Iberian femininity, a strong sense of elegance, freedom and decisiveness, a bubbling personality.
Each in her own right, they are a true celebration of the spirits and DNA of Souliers Martinez – movement; skills, imagination and creativity; modernity; Spain, its culture and character; traditions. Souliers Martinez’ second collaboration of the kind features Clara Diez. The face of the brand’s campaign for Spring 21, Clara is a self described “artisan activist fighting for real cheese around the world” – a surprising move, a logical, asserted choice. Her passion for global Spanish heritage is expressed through food, namely cheese, and her mission is to express her products’ immense cultural worth.
Mirroring both the mission and DNA of Souliers Martinez, she is fervently engaged in promoting a specific artisanal know-how: respectful of nature, of the work of local producers, of Spanish traditions.
More than introducing audiences to a wide variety of products, Clara introduces them to a way of life, through an olfactory voyage at Formaje, her outstanding outlet in Madrid, the unique universe where she expresses the wide range of her passion.
CANDELAN CAPITAN
For our 2020 Winter Collection we collaborated with Candela Capitán. Born in Cadiz and based in Barcelona, Candela is a contemporary dancer, an inspirational artist, a force of nature. Her strong opinions and playful desires send shockwaves through the realm of the established, with her sensitive and elegant approach.
She has been compared to a modern poet, one who translates movement into poetry. She describes her work as a supreme state of detachment, through which she expresses absolute freedom, where thoughts, feelings, desires and needs don’t contradict each other. In collaboration with Studio Cobalto, who signs the artistic direction of this Winter campaign, we have given Candela total freedom to express her vision, her personal and modern reinterpretation of flamenco.
An engaging figure, modern and creative, feminine and unconventional, Candela embodies perfectly this unique Spanish spirit that Souliers Martinez conveys.
